I am attempting to grow traps and hooded pitchers from seed, and then transfer to a terrarium, I am concerned about what type of soil I should use.

From what I've read, a mix of sand and peat is needed for the trap seeds. You spread them on it then keep them well lit and moist.
You're gonna need to cold strat the hooded pitcher seeds before you sow them. When you do, use the same soil you'd use for the plant. Again, a peat/sand mix should work.
I got a bag of spahagnum peat and a bag of sand box sand for less than 10 bucks together and I've been using them for months for different CP purposes.
